On a weathered facade, the fleeting figure of a bullfighter emerges from the darkness. The conversion to negative reduces the color and enhances the contrasts, making the figure appear to almost glow. A silent dialogue unfolds between light and time, reality and imagination, transience and the present. The photograph thereby crosses the boundary into painting and develops the appearance of a painted image. The shot was taken in Arles.
